This report is the fifth edition of a study of the Russian market of sorbents (absorbents) for oil and petroleum product spills.
Market monitoring has been conducted since 2004.
The objective of the study is to examine sorbents (absorbents) for the response to oil and petroleum product spills.
The objects of the study are Russian sorbents (absorbents) used for the response to oil and petroleum product spills.
This work is a desk study. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); the Unified Information System in Procurement; rail transportation statistics; the SBIS database; foreign specialized companies; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; Industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (e.g., elibrary), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.
Research timeframe: 2010-2025, forecast 2026-2030.
Research geography: Russian Federation – comprehensive, detailed market analysis; global – brief overview.
The report consists of 9 chapters and contains 188 pages, including 71 tables, 8 figures, and 3 appendices.
Chapter one presents the classification of oil sorbents and summarizes their main requirements.
Chapter two presents the main types of oil sorbents.
Chapter three provides a brief overview of the global oil sorbent market.
Chapter four summarizes information on Russian oil sorbent manufacturers and identifies companies that have ceased production. Oil sorbent production volumes in the Russian Federation from 2010 to 2025 are estimated.
Chapter 5 analyzes the main foreign trade transactions involving oil sorbents in Russia from 2010 to 2025.
Chapter 6 presents Russian oil sorbent prices for 2015 to 2026.
Chapter 7 examines the Russian market capacity, calculating the apparent consumption of oil sorbents from 2010 to 2025, taking into account national production, imports, and exports. It also characterizes the main economic sectors responsible for oil and oil product pollution.
Chapter 8 substantiates the forecast for oil sorbent consumption for 2026 to 2030.
Chapter 9, the final chapter of the report, summarizes data on patents for inventions related to oil sorbents worldwide and in Russia.
The appendices provide basic information on foreign oil sorbent manufacturers, a register of open oil sorbent procurements, and contact information for the main oil sorbent manufacturers and consumers.
The report features a detailed description of Russian oil sorbent manufacturers with an analysis of their financial status, a balance sheet for oil sorbent consumption from 2010-2025, taking into account national production, imports, and exports, and a detailed register of open oil sorbent procurements for 2013-2026.
Target audience:
- Participants in the oil and petroleum product sorbent (absorbent) market in Russia: producers, consumers, and traders;
- EMERCOM and MO structures;
- Potential investors;
- College and university students, postgraduate students;
- Deputy heads of city and municipal district administrations for housing and public utilities, improvement, and construction.
The proposed study aims to serve as a reference guide for marketing departments and management decision makers working in this market.
