This report is the tenth edition of a study of the bentonite clay and clay powder market in Russia, the EAEU/CIS countries, and globally.
Market monitoring has been conducted since 2004.
The objective of the study is to analyze the bentonite market – global, Russian, and in the EAEU/CIS countries.
The objects of the study are bentonite clays and clay powders.
This work is a desk research. The following sources of information were used: data from statistical committees of the EAEU countries (including Rosstat, the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan); international databases of the UN (UNdata), World Bank, Eurostat; international and European trade data (UN Comtrade, Trade Map); the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (until 2022); the Unified Information System in Procurement; rail transportation statistics; the SBIS database; foreign specialized companies; annual and quarterly reports of securities issuers; Industry and regional press, conference materials, websites of manufacturers and consumers of the products under study; scientific and technical literature (e.g., elibrary), the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) patent database; the InfoMine database, etc.
Research timeframe: 2000-6 months to 2025; forecast: 2025-2030.
Research coverage: Russian Federation – comprehensive, detailed market analysis; EAEU/CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan) – general retrospective market analysis; rest of the world – general information on market dynamics and characteristics.
The report consists of 7 parts and contains 184 pages, including 42 figures, 68 tables, and 1 appendix.
The first chapter of the report provides a brief overview of the global bentonite market (reserves, mining, production, producing countries, prices).
Chapter two presents information on the mineral resource base of bentonite clays in the CIS countries, including the reserve structure and characteristics of the main deposits.
Chapter three is devoted to the extraction and production of bentonite products in the CIS countries. This chapter describes the current status of the main bentonite producers in Russia, provides quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the output at each enterprise, and analyzes data on supply volumes and destinations for the period 2003-2024. Information on selected bentonite product producers in Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Armenia, and Uzbekistan is also provided.
Chapter four of the report presents data on foreign trade operations with bentonite products in the Russian Federation from 2000-2025, as well as in other CIS countries (2005-2024). The report presents statistical data on foreign trade volumes in physical and monetary terms, the regional structure of bentonite exports and imports, and data on the volumes and destinations of deliveries by major exporters and importers.
Chapter five of the report presents data on the dynamics of bentonite export and import prices in Russia from 2000 to 2025 and current prices on the Russian domestic market.
Chapter six of the report examines bentonite consumption in Russia from 2000 to 2024. This section presents the production-consumption balance of this product, assesses the industry and regional consumption structures, identifies the main consumers, and describes the current status and development prospects of the largest consumer companies. This chapter also assesses bentonite consumption in other CIS countries.
