    This report focuses on the study of the prospects of increasing coal exports through the ports of the Black and Azov seas and rail infrastructure in southern Russia in the light of development of the port of Taman. The report consists of 7 chapters, contains 113 pages, 23 tables, 41 and figure 2 of Appendix.
     
    This work is a "desk" research. As information sources, we used data of Federal Service of State Statistics of Russia (Rosstat), JSC "Russian Railways" (statistics of rail transport), Federal Customs Service of Russia, ESIMO (Unified State System of information on the world's oceans), the Association of Russian ports, CJSC " Mortsentr-TEK ". Also, data of the sector and regional press, annual and quarterly reports of companies, web-sites of ports and stevedoring companies.
     
    The first chapterof the report presents brief characteristics of the marine port infrastructure in Russia. It presents data on volumes of cargo handling at marine basins of Russia in the period 2008-2012 to ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin presents data on volumes of freight traffic as a whole, and the dynamics of coal handling in 2008-2012.
    The second chapter analyzes the main policy documents for the development of port infrastructure - federal programs and transport strategy. The data on major projects to build capacity for coal handling in the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
    The third chapterof the report analyzes the prospect of traffic to the sea ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin in 2013-2014 with the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi. It presents data on volumes of cargo to the Olympic construction projects in the period 2010-2013, by type of transport.
    The fourth chapter is devoted to the analysis of the infrastructure of "Russian Railways", it shows the basic performance of the company.
    In the fifth chapter summarizing the progress of the project to increase the capacity of the railway to the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
    The sixth chapter discusses the various options for the sea port infrastructure ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin and the forecast capacity of the railway until 2020.
    The seventh chapter is the main conclusions of the study.
