    This report is the sixth edition of the investigation of the current state of the market of iodine in the CIS countries (Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Belarus) and in the world

     

    The purpose of the study is to analyze  the market of iodine.

     

    The objects of this study are iodine and iodine-containing products.

     

    This work is a desk study. As information sources, data from the Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat), JSC "Russian Railways" (statistics of rail transportation), Federal Customs Service of Russia, State Customs Service of Ukraine (data on foreign trade operations), the UN database, and the database of "InfoMine" were considered. Also, data from the Committees on Statistics of CIS countries, the regional press, annual and quarterly reports of companies, web-sites of companies-producers of iodine, as well as telephone interviews, were employed.

     

    The chronological scope of the study: 2000-2012; the forecast - 2013-2020.

    The geographic areas of the research: Russia and the CIS countries - a comprehensive detailed analysis of the market and the world - a brief description.

    The volume of the research: the report consists of 10 sections, and contains 100 pages, including 29 tables, 39 figures and 2 Appendices.

     

    The first chapter of the report provides an overview of the world market of iodine. This section presents data on reserves of iodine in the world, dynamics of the output of iodine, the main producers, the exports and imports of products, prices, and the world consumption of iodine.

    The second chapter of the report presents data on reserves of iodine in the CIS countries (Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Belarus).

    The third chapter of the report presents information on available technologies of the production of iodine and their features.

    The fourth chapter is devoted to an analysis of the production of iodine in the CIS. This chapter presents requirements of normative-technical documentation for the quality of different brands of iodine, presents data on volumes of production, traces the dynamics of production, and describes the main producers of iodine and their current status.

    The fifth chapter of the report is devoted to projects that develop the production of iodine in the CIS.

    The sixth chapter of the report analyzes data on foreign trade in iodine in Russia and the CIS. It presents data on volumes of export and import of products, estimates a regional pattern of the supplies, and presents data on volumes of iodine supplied by exporters and importers.

    The seventh chapter examines the foreign trade operations with iodine-containing products in Russia, Ukraine and Turkmenistan, with an analysis of volumes and directions of the export-import supplies of the product.

    The eighth chapter of the report presents data on prices for iodine in the Russian domestic market, and analyzes the dynamics of export-import prices on products in 2005-2012.

    The ninth chapter of the report is devoted to an analysis of domestic consumption of iodine in Russia. This section presents the production-consumption balance of the products, estimates a structure of consumption, and describes the main consumers and uses of iodine.

    The final, tenth, chapter of the report presents a forecast of production and consumption of iodine in the CIS up to 2020.

    Appendices present addresses and contact information of the main producers and consumers of iodine.
